Donatella Brunello and Giuseppe Maniero founded True Design in 1983. Its original name was TMA, an acronym for Treviso, Monselice, Asiago, three cities in the Veneto region known for their office furniture production. Initially, the company focused on seating for offices, theatres and cinemas. Then, in 2009, with Alessandro, Lorenzo and Francesco Maniero, the brand took a new direction with the foundation of True. That is how a business with an international vocation devoted to producing quality furniture and accessories for the workplace was born. In 2014, the company entrusted its creative direction to Aldo Parisotto, co-founder and owner of the Parisotto+Formenton Architetti studio. His mission was to devise a new way of furnishing offices closer to domestic comfort and develop furniture suitable for this idea by collaborating with young and established designers.

True Design: furnish the workspace as a lifespace

True Design's research aims to produce durable, flexible and hybrid furniture for any kind of living, working and hospitality space. This furniture responds to new behaviours and habits thanks to the great attention paid to design, comfort, functionality, natural and quality materials, customisation and colour palettes that mirror current trends. Among the first products created under Aldo Parisotto's art direction are hybrid items designed for offices and public spaces like the modular Millepiedi bench system, inspired by Giorgio Morandi's pastels and desaturated tones. Millepiedi is conceived for large areas and combines essential design with rigorous material combinations, offering a wide range of configurations and dimensions. After being included in the 2016 ADI Design Index, Millepiedi has evolved over the years, integrating functions like the new system for multifunctional indoor and outdoor islands presented in 2020.
Before the pandemic that revolutionised the work environment, True Design tackled the theme of smart working with furnishings that would create spaces in which to live and work. Arca armchairs and smaller seating elements for waiting areas and "smart lounges" by Orlandini Design use different backrest heights and various bases (with wheels, trestles, and a rocking version) to adapt to different needs and contexts. The Clara upholstered seating line with its enveloping shapes was designed by Parisotto+Formenton. With Sho seating - designed by Favaretto & Partners - True Design proposes an armchair that expands to become a two or three-seater sofa; it also comes in pouffe and chaise longue versions. The compact Hella desk is explicitly dedicated to the home office. This multifunctional piece of furniture integrating desk, bookcase and charging station is suitable for even the smallest spaces.
The desire to create office furniture that can satisfy domestic comfort continued in 2020 with new releases in the Extraordinary.Everyday collection: the Bitta smart table, designed by Parisotto + Formenton; the Ermete series of tables designed by Leonardo Rossano and Debora Mansur; the Not Wood stackable chair by E-ggs design as a compact and light evolution of the Not family of upholstered armchairs; the Tao seat by Orlandini characterised by a '50s / '60s classic feel and T-shaped structure that supports the backrest.

The kitchen, according to True Design

Wing table is part of the Extraordinary.Everyday collection in which True Design faced the theme of the kitchen design for the first time. Here the kitchen is intended as a place of conviviality and the centre of domestic and working life. Designed by Parisotto + Formenton and awarded with the 2020 Archiproducts Design Awards, Wing Kitchen is a freestanding kitchen developed with Frigo2000; it has a trestle structure and a marine plywood top with a Fenix® finish that integrates recessed containers and supports for a LED lamp and shelves in the central section. One side of the table is equipped with a cooker, oven, sink and storage elements, while the other is designed for food preparation and consumption as well as working and meeting. Today, after the drastic changes imposed by the pandemic, this product proves to be forward-looking, timely and useful.
