La Cividina was born in 1976 when Carlo Bulfoni, an artisan with vast experience in
upholstered furniture, decided to open his own workshop in Martignacco in the province of Udine. Right from the start, the company adopted "Made in Italy" values by using all Italian materials and producing locally in a district known for its outstanding upholstered furniture. In 2018, this approach earned La Cividina the Certification of Italian Origin in the World, awarded for the first time to a company in the sector. Specialising in
furnishings for public facilities, La Cividina became an important brand in the contract sector in just a few years. Crafted by expert, qualified artisans, the brand's
sofas and
armchairs stand out for their fine materials, attention to detail, attractive design and outstanding comfort. La Cividina creations grace prestigious interiors like the lounge areas of the Linate, Nice and Singapore airports, the Dropbox offices in Tel Aviv and the George Palace lobby in Sydney, to name just a few.
La Cividina modular seating for the contract sector
Modular seating for the contract sector and, in some cases, for home furnishing occupies a prominent place in La Cividina's rich and varied catalogue. The
Suiseki sofa, selected from among 700 international design projects, won the 2019 Archiproducts Design Awards. Designer Andrea Steidl was inspired by the Japanese art of arranging stones and imagined a system of deconstructed seats made up of cubes and parallelepipeds that form sculptural sofas with striking aesthetics. The
modular Nap sofa, also by Andrea Steidl, evokes rest and relaxation, reinterpreting the shape of an enormous pillow. One of Nap's most distinctive elements is the stitching that forms a fabric tube defining the seat and armrests. The
Guest collection by Antonio Rodriguez includes 23 elements in different shapes and sizes, allowing for countless configurations. Waves is an elegant collection inspired by the sea and characterised by organic shapes that create artistic compositions. The shape of the lounge bench, with or without a backrest, evokes waves, while the elongated pouffes recall flower petals. Velour sofa by Antonio Rodriguez won the 2017 Archiproducts Design Award. It consists of no less than 63 elements that can be combined in many ways, including face-to-face configurations. In addition to sofas and armchairs,

The design of La Cividina icons
Some La Cividina products can be considered design icons. The
Pinch sofa, designed by Skrivo Design, was awarded Honourable Mention at the XXV Compasso D'Oro, the 2016 Archiproducts Design Award and the 2017 Iconic Awards Interior Innovation. Soave collection's evocative name conjures up the light and harmonic forms imagined by designer Sebastian Herkner; the
Soave sofa, in an asymmetrical version with a coffee table, won the 2018 Archiproducts Design Awards in the contract category. The
Filinea armchair, by Antonio Sciortino, is one of the most recent products in the La Cividina catalogue, but it has already made waves. Made from a steel rod just a few millimetres thick, Filinea has a futuristic design inspired by euphorbia tirucalli, a widespread plant in southern Italy. This complex project is a test of virtuosity and technical skill. The
Osaka line re-proposes the revolutionary seating system imagined by Pierre Paulin in 1967 and presented at the Osaka International Expo. Conceived as seating for public areas, Osaka is composed of three parallelepipeds in different heights that create the back and seat. The elements are available in various curved shapes with different radii and patterns to form countless compositions and multiple sizes.
