Frigerio is an Italian company specializing in the production of high-end furniture, with a particular focus on sofas, armchairs, and beds. Founded in 1938 in Mariano Comense, in the heart of Brianza, the company combines artisanal tradition with technological innovation, offering furniture solutions ranging from living areas to bedrooms. In the 1960s, the founder’s sons, Gianfranco and Angelo, expanded the family business, transforming it into an industrial enterprise. Today, the company is led by the second and third generations of the family, with Gianfranco Frigerio serving as CEO and creative director, supported by his sons Gianmaria, Gilberto, and Riccardo, and his grandson Federico. In 2018, the company inaugurated a new headquarters in Mariano Comense, featuring a showroom of over 800 square meters. This exhibition space, illuminated by large windows overlooking hanging gardens, provides a comprehensive overview of the Frigerio collection, highlighting the flexibility and quality of its products.
Frigerio: modular sofas and designer armchairs
The Frigerio collection includes a wide range of furniture, with a particular emphasis on sectional sofas and armchairs. Standout models include Davis, a modular sofa system featuring an extensive range of modular elements with lift-up back cushions (a Frigerio patent) and a wide array of accessories for unique configurations. Eddie is a collection of floor-level modular sofas with a wooden base upholstered in leather or fabric and concealed feet. The slim base supports the single-piece seat cushion, available in a smooth finish or with distinctive horizontal quilting. Cooper is a modular sofa characterized by oversized, monoblock floor-level volumes upholstered in goose down, available in two depths to emphasize its contemporary and informal spirit. Frigerio collaborates with national and international architects and designers to enrich its furniture collection. Notable partnerships include Gordon Guillaumier, designer of the Dao Soft modular sofa, which offers extensive compositional freedom in a geometric harmony of soft volumes. Christophe Pillet is the author of the modular corner sofa Horizon, which effortlessly interprets Frigerio’s quality and craftsmanship, reflecting contemporary living.
Innovation and sustainability in Frigerio production
Frigerio stands out for its direct management of the entire production process, starting with carpentry for frame construction. The company combines a deep artisanal culture with digitalized production facilities and automated logistics, based on Lean Production principles and Industry 4.0. Despite adopting cutting-edge machinery, Frigerio prioritizes manual expertise, such as the individual cutting of fabrics, to ensure maximum quality and precision.
