Form & Refine is a Danish brand that produces
furniture and design objects, founded in 2018 by Helle Herman Mortensen, Jonas Herman Pedersen and Lasse Lund Lauridsen, based on a common vision: create a value brand that explores materials and preserves the planet and craftsmanship through an exceptional design philosophy.
Form & Refine carefully chooses natural materials from all over the world and transforms them into laboratories close to the place of origin, thus reducing the impact of CO₂. The Damsbo forest on the island of Funen in Denmark is the source of supply of Danish wood, unique in its kind, that the company employs: ash, maple and oak. From the region of Alcobaça in Portugal, on the other hand, the clay for ceramics comes, also using the ancient processing techniques that are used in this area of the world.
Form & Refine: excellent materials and local craft traditions through aesthetics
With the aim of preserving the craft and considering the social impact, Form & Refine works with cooperatives and small factories, establishing fair and respectful partnerships, supporting small realities as a cooperative of alpaca farmers in the highlands of Bolivia. Not only the finest matarials are selected to ensure the long life of all products, but also the most experienced craftsmen to transform them into design objects. For this reason, the processing of the material takes place directly in the country of origin, using the skills and know-how of local experts and consequently the value and value of these factors is recognized in Form & Refine products and their quality.
Form & Refine pays homage to the tradition of Scandinavian design, but at the same time, breaks new ground, works and refines materials and creates carefully sustainable products that remain interesting and useful even after decades. Each product has its own history, the design is clear, sober and elegant, so that the material has an optimal effect. A design object must have a function and always meet the highest quality standards and this is the basis of a long-lasting design that becomes more and more precious over the years.
