The company SAS Fontes de Paris was established in 1985 by Casimir Szatapski after acquiring the company "Fontes et Lanternes de Champagne." That same year, Fontes de Paris made its mark by completing the Pont de Pierre in Bordeaux. Rooted in a family tradition, the company quickly expanded its reach, establishing close ties with the city of Paris and opening up to international markets. Its product catalog, exclusively classic, includes cast iron lampposts, lanterns in stainless steel, bronze, copper, and brass, as well as brackets and consoles in cast iron or steel.
Fontes de Paris in important projects
The company has contributed to numerous historical projects in France and abroad, including the Cour of the Louvre Museum, Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis, the Quebec Parliament, several palaces of the King of Morocco in Rabat and Marrakech, the Parc de la Villette, EuroDisney Park, and Princess Nora University in Riyadh, to name just a few. In recent years, a vast retrofit program has been undertaken, replacing old light sources with LEDs, with major projects such as the Champs-Élysées Avenue, Rue de Rivoli, the Saint-Martin Canal, the Hôtel de la Marine, Place du Châtelet, Théâtre Édouard VII, and Pyrenees Avenue in Pau.
Fontes de Paris: history, awards and certifications
In 2016, a major turning point occurred for the company with a change in family management. Fontes de Paris then successively acquired the Italian manufacturer Grechi Light & Energy, obtained the Origine France Garantie label followed by ISO 9001 certification. Today, Fontes de Paris remains the only manufacturer of public lighting fixtures claiming French manufacturing and certification. In 2017, the company was awarded the "Living Heritage Company" label by the Minister of the Economy, in recognition of the artisanal and historical heritage. With the acquisition of Grechi, they then expanded the offering to include contemporary and functional luminaires, with models such as Ledrose, KJLED, Ledcup, and Lumada. Between 2017 and 2023, the production of luminaires increased from 4,200 units per year to more than 18,000 units per year, a spectacular growth of over 300%. Finally, the year 2023 saw the revenue increase by 25% to €8 M, a record year since the company's inception. Fontes de Paris continues to enrich the offering through close collaboration with French designers, and one of the models even won the Design Award at the Light & Building fair in Frankfurt. Since 2016, Fontes de Paris has also been deeply concerned about the environmental impact of the company and are proud to declare that the aluminum lanterns are made exclusively from recycled aluminum, a first in France. Most recently, in 2023, Fontes de Paris obtained ISO 14001 certification and are gradually transitioning the vehicle fleet to electric vehicles, with the goal of reducing the carbon footprint.
